2004 season November 23, 2004 AFL stars speak out! We caught up with four of the AFL's top performers on the day of the championship game to get their perspectives on the AFL season and that day's big game. ------------ Conor Jackson (Diamondbacks - OF)
"I came in with high expectations. I wanted to hit a little higher in batting average and get my on-base percentage up; I think I've done an okay job of doing that. "We'll see what it's all about right here --- getting that ring." ------------ Corey Myers (Diamondbacks - 3B/C)
"I think the transition to catching is probably going to prolong my career quite a bit. I'd love to be a Diamondback, but there's 29 other teams that have a chance." It's a fun situation because this (AFL championship) is the only time in baseball where it's one game, winner take all ... It's been a fun, fun league. It's kind of like an all-star game, except that you've gotten to play with these guys for a month." ------------ Wes Wilkerson (Royals - P)
"It showed I can pitch at the next level or just maybe get a better chance with some team out there. Hopefully, the Royals will give me a chance to help them in the big leagues." "I had a great time out here, and hopefully we'll come out here with a win."
Omar Quintanilla (Athletics - SS)
"This is the game right here. This is what we came out here for. We worked all this month and a half for this, so we're going to come out, play with all of our hearts, and try to win this thing." ------------ All photos on the Arizona Fall League Report are credited to Bill Mitchell, unless noted otherwise, and are not to be used for any other purpose without express permission.
